PlumeStop® Liquid Activated Carbon™ is composed of very fine particles of activated carbon (1- 2 μm) suspended in water through a unique blend of organic polymer dispersants. Once in the subsurface, the material behaves as a colloidal biomatrix, sorbing to the aquifer matrix, rapidly removing contaminants from groundwater, and achieving permanent contaminant removal. The present study provides an illustration of the synergy of sorption and degradation of PlumeStop. Post-sorption degradation is evaluated.
