Taryn McKnight, Vice President and PFAS Practice Leader for Eurofins Environment Testing in the U.S., has 25 years of experience in the environmental testing industry. As one of the company’s subject matter experts on PFAS, Ms. McKnight contributes to multiple organization and agency workgroups to address PFAS challenges, including her effort as co-chair of the NGWA subcommittee to develop PFAS Sampling Guidance and a PFAS Forensics White Paper. With her expertise she provides technical guidance to clients in setting up programs to achieve their site-specific objectives, and to agencies with understanding their analytical options and data usability considerations.

In this webinar we are pleased to have special guest speakers Dr. Charles Newell, Vice President at GSI Environmental, and Dr. David Adamson, Vice President and Principal Engineer with GSI Environmental. Their presentation will examine PFAS Monitored Retention (PMR), a non-destructive extension of monitored natural attenuation in which physical and chemical retention processes are used to protect downgradient receptors; and PFAS Enhanced Retention (PER), the active companion to PMR for sites where natural retention alone is insufficient. They will be joined by Paul Erickson, PhD, Vice President of Research and Development at REGENESIS.

Dr. Charles Newell is a Vice President at GSI Environmental Inc. in Houston. Dr. Newell has co-authored more than 30 technical publications on PFAS fate, transport, and remediation, and has led multiple PFAS research projects funded by the U.S. Department of War. His honors include the 2014 Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program Project of the Year Award, the 2016 Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council Environmental Excellence Award, and the 2024 Gordon Maskew Fair Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists.
David Adamson, PhD

Dr. David Adamson is a Vice President and Principal Engineer with GSI Environmental Inc. and has more than 26 years of environmental project experience in environmental consulting and academic research. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. Since joining GSI in 2004, Dr. Adamson has served as a Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator on over 25 DoD-sponsored research projects, including those focused on 1,4-dioxane, PFAS, innovative long-term monitoring strategies, enhanced amendment delivery systems, and improved characterization and treatment methods for contaminants in low-permeability matrices.
Paul Erickson, Ph.D.

Dr. Paul Erickson is the Vice President of Research & Development with REGENESIS,
overseeing the commercialization of new environmental solutions to address complex
remediation challenges. In his time with REGENESIS, Dr. Erickson led the development of
a number of remediation products and technologies, including PetroFix, AquiFix, SourceStop and FluxTracer.
Dr. Erickson earned a BS degree in Chemistry from Florida State University, a
Masters in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Environmental
Chemistry from ETH Zurich. He is an author on over 20 peer-reviewed scientific
publications mainly in the area of environmental chemistry.

Mr. Stephen Sherman is a California licensed professional geologist with over 17 years of experience in soil, air, and groundwater investigation; and soil and groundwater remediation, primarily focused on CVOC and PFAS contaminated sites. His experience includes managing and leading air, soil, and groundwater site investigations; managing monitoring and sampling programs; overseeing various drilling technologies and in situ remedial injections; and designing and overseeing the installation of groundwater monitoring, injection, and extraction wells. Mr. Sherman also has experience in environmental site assessments, construction management, remedial costing, and remedial performance evaluations.

Matt Dunn is an oceanographer and analytical chemist focused on understanding the fate & transport of contaminants in the natural environment. Using a combination of numerical models and advanced data visualization tools in conjunction with hands-on field and lab experience, Matt's work focuses on unravelling how PFAS gets from source to sink. Prior to joining Tetra Tech to contribute to PFAS business development and data analysis, Matt completed his PhD at the University of Rhode Island with a focus on tracking PFAS fate & transport using passive samplers.
