REGENESIS invites you to attend the Fall Webinar Series. Throughout the fall, we will be featuring webinar events with key environmental thought leaders. Topics will cover a numerical approach developed by Langan to ensure air data quality control, a PFAS State of the Union, PFAS mitigation and managing liabilities, and managing vapor intrusion liability. Each webinar will provide an opportunity for questions and answers. Certificates of completion are available on request. Sign up for the upcoming webinars today!*
* NOTE: We encourage you to sign up even if you are unable to attend every event, as you will receive recordings of each webinar following the broadcast.
Air Data Quality Control: A Case Study
Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 | 11am pacific\2pm eastern
In this webinar we are pleased to have special guest speaker Sigrida Reinis, PhD, PE, Senior Associate at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services Inc. Her presentation will discuss a case study in air quality data control. She will be joined by Hieu Nguyen, Principal Engineer at Land Science, who will discuss innovative vapor intrusion mitigation system technologies.
Sigrida Reinis, PhD, PE
Senior Associate, Langan
Dr. Reinis is a Senior Associate with Langan Engineering and Environmental Services and lives and works in Oakland, California. She holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Engineering, and doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Sigrida is a Professional Engineer in the State of California and a licensed General Engineering Contractor in California.
With over 25 years of design and construction oversight experience, Sigrida is the technical leader of the gas and vapor intrusion mitigation and monitoring practice for Langan in California, supporting projects ranging from ¼-acre brownfield redevelopments for affordable housing to landfill redevelopments for multi-tower life science campuses. In addition, Sigrida leads the probabilistic cost estimating and decision analysis practice for Langan nationwide. She also has prepared and provided peer reviews of the full spectrum of technical documents related to the remediation of redevelopment of brownfield sites and municipal solid waste landfills, and has provided litigation support and expert witness services for both construction and environmental engineering projects.
Hieu Nguyen
Principal Engineer, Land Science
Hieu Nguyen is the Principal Engineer of the Land Science division of REGENESIS, Inc. In his role, Hieu oversees product implementation at construction sites and provides technical support to regional and district managers as well as Land Science clients. Hieu offers over fifteen years of experience supporting vapor intrusion mitigation system designs, specifications and installations across United States, Canada and Australia. He is also an active member of the ITRC Petroleum Vapor Intrusion task group, AICHE and ASTM D04 Asphalt Emulsions Tests and Specifications. Prior to joining Land Science, Hieu worked as a product manager and technical engineer for a leading spray-applied asphalt latex gas barrier manufacturer. Hieu earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.
PFAS Regulatory State of the Union
Thursday, November 10th, 2022 | 11am pacific\2pm eastern
In this webinar we are pleased to have special guest speaker Taryn McKnight, PFAS Practice Leader for Eurofins Environment Testing America. Her presentation will discuss regulatory actions at both the federal and state level to address PFAS contamination. She will address a range of PFAS research topics and scientific developments, and the latest news on toxicology, health studies, analytical method development, and understanding the fate and transport of PFAS.
Taryn McKnight
PFAS Practice Leader, Eurofins Environment Testing America
Taryn McKnight, PFAS Practice Leader for Eurofins Environment Testing America based in Sacramento, California, has nearly 20 years of experience in the environmental testing industry specializing in emerging contaminants and pathways of concern with a focus on PFAS and Vapor Intrusion assessments. She is responsible for staying abreast of the latest regulatory and scientific developments specific to PFAS, while collaborating with Eurofins operational leadership to develop services to meet the challenges of today and in the future. Ms. McKnight contributes to multiple organization and agency workgroups to address PFAS challenges, including her current effort as co-chair of the NGWA subcommittee to develop PFAS Sampling and Analysis Guidance. With her expertise she provides technical guidance to clients in setting up programs to achieve their site-specific objectives, and to agencies with understanding their analytical options and data usability considerations.
Part 1: Risk and Liability - PFAS Mitigation and Managing Liabilities
Thursday, November 17th, 2022 | 11am pacific\2pm eastern
Part 2: Risk and Liability - Vapor Intrusion Mitigation and Managing Liabilities
Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 | 11am pacific\2pm eastern
In this two-part webinar series we are pleased to have special guest speakers Hilary Robinson, PE, Emerging Contaminants Lead and Eric Leitz, Director of Legacy Site Services at RPS Group. Their presentations will discuss PFAS risk mitigation and managing liabilities, taking at look at PFAS contamination and vapor intrusion.
Hilary Robinson, PE
Emerging Contaminants Lead, RPS Ocean Science
Ms. Robinson excels in the evaluation of chemical fate and transport processes for exposure reconstruction and spill modeling, particularly related to large-scale chemical releases with multi-media impacts and emerging contaminants. Using these skills, she provides support to clients wishing to evaluate matters related to ecological, occupational, and public health. She estimates release impacts and exposure concerns through reconstruction of historical industrial practices, environmental data interpretation, and modeling spills in coastal and in-land environments. Ms. Robinson has provided litigation support for toxic tort, site contamination, and CERCLA lawsuits that span across many industries and mixed contaminants. Ms. Robinson’s strong analytical background in hydrologic modeling allows her to tackle complex issues in fate and transport.
Eric Leitz
Director, RPS Legacy Site Services
Mr. Leitz has almost 25 years of experience in the environmental field overseeing site investigation and remediation of soil, soil gas, and groundwater for industrial, commercial, municipal and residential clients. Mr. Leitz draws on this deep experience to generate liability estimates related to acquisitions of facilities with operations with suspected or known VI concerns and advising on appropriate mitigations. These VI evaluations are designed to provide realistic liability profiles that can be used to guide facility operations or acquisitions in both the short and long term. Eric has spent several years working with clients on sites with known or potential Emerging Contaminants concerns, such as 1,4-dioxane and more recently PFAS. As part of that experience, Mr. Leitz has supported numerous clients by providing liability estimates related to acquisitions of facilities with operations with suspected or known emerging contaminant concerns.
